Hello! Happy New month to you and yours.
It’s Valentine’s season and I’m unashamedly excited about it.
This is because a few people (read men) are happy they can dodge the day cos of football, but it’s a ‘season’ not just a day so we move!
What's the fuss about Valentine's anyways?
First of all, I have to say there are a ton of theories surrounding Valentine’s day (Read here)
However, what I’ve decided to look at it as not just a chance to don red garments and solely express romantic love.
It’s a chance to express your acts of charity; answering to the ‘Love Language‘ of whoever it is you’re willing to express this to. Be it a partner, your family, the less privileged or just people you have at heart.
So, I put together some activities I think spreads across what just about anyone could do this season.
From the adventure lovers to the romantics, to family and the “ugh, I don’t do mushy” gang too. 😀
Read along and maybe you could find something you can see yourself trying out. Love is in the air and no one should be left out.
It’s a season of giving and you’re not left out of our plans.

Kayaking is actually something I can see myself totally doing as a valentine’s day activity or on any other day even.
Kayaking is a recreational boating activity where a person paddles across water sitting in a kayak.
You don’t have to be an excellent swimmer to try it out, plus you get a life jacket while you’re seated in the cockpit of your kayak.
This can totally be a two person activity, with the other person in their kayak, you can race or just paddle slow and enjoy some conversation.
If you’re in Abuja, you can check out these guys Kayak. Abuja
So yay or nay
Ever seen one of those movies where there a people parked in a lot seeing a movie on a large outdoor projector?
Ever wanted to try that? It really is one of the most chill and laid back things ever.
It’s the perfect date idea for movie lovers, 80s style.
There’s a really nice spot in Abuja you could try out. It’s called the Sunsetdrive; it’s located in Wuse Zone 5.
Click the link inserted above to find out more about them.
Existing way up on a hill and taking in the view of everything below; like your a thousand feet above all the cares of the world.
Hiking definitely makes it on this list. And, it’s the perfect way to start off end your valentine’s and incorporate some healthy living into the program while you’re at it, no?
I’d recommend the Monstatribe hiking group for Abuja residents. They are as fun as fun gets.
Who says valentine’s can’t be a group activity anyways?
Make plans with a bunch of family or friends and go bowling. It’s a fun way to spend time with people you care about and make memories.
You can try out the bowling alley at Trukadero place in Wuse 2, Abuja
The abundance of parks in Abuja is one of the cutest things about it.
Best part? You can actually take your own stuff and just hang out there.
Take walks, play games , ride bikes, skate, a ton of fun pocket friendly activities really.
So whether you fall under any of the categories of “valentiners” that I mentioned earlier, picnicking or just walks in the park would prove more fun than it actually sounds.
Trust me on this one cos I had one of the best times on New year’s eve just hanging at Millennium park; caught the most beautiful sunset even.
And it wasn’t valentine’s day so can you imagine?
You can google Abuja parks and pick whichever appeals to your aesthetic preference, kid friendliness, proximity, privacy or whatever preferences you might have.
If you’re looking to organize any activity for orphanages for your valentine’s celebration, this would be perfect.
So, I want to apologize to the people not resident in Abuja. This is just a guide to let you know what other stuff you could try out besides the usual, but I gave specific locations cos I’m here at the moment.
However, I would love for you to share in the comment section other activities you think would make wonderful valentine’s day ideas wherever you are presently.
